Rutgers Dean Authors First Book on Genetics and Nursing Practice
Sunday, 02/04/07 - Felissa R. Lashley, Rutgers College of Nursing Dean, is the proud author of "Essentials of Clinical Genetics in Nursing Practice". According to Medical News Today, this is the first book of its kind to be published within the field of nursing education.
"To provide the best nursing care it is essential that practitioners and students have a basic knowledge of genetics and how it affects the major areas of nursing practice," stated Lashley. "Genetic factors can cause disease or affect an individual's susceptibility and resistance to disease and even treatment."
Lashley is the author of over 300 publications and the recipient of several awards including the Nurse Researcher Award from the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care which she received in 2000.
