Rutgers slashes programs

Rutgers' Board of Governors yesterday ratified a 2006-07 academic year budget that includes $50 million in spending reductions, which they called a lamentable but a necessary outcome of a steep decline in state funding this year. Students face deep cuts in course offerings and an 8 percent rise in tuition when they return to the state university for the fall semester.
